Introducing E-Theft Online
In a time when the internet is all the craze, illegal downloads
of songs is becoming big business. Business the recording industry
would like to keep to itself. Remember Napster? Yes, the site
that got shut down thanks to Metallica's lawsuit. Since then
a million and one PTP file trading sites have popped up around
the place. Not suprisingly, though, it's not music people are
downloading from these sites, it's porn. But the music that is
downloaded is causing significant worry to the good bastard pen
pushers on the 100th floor of the recording empire. They can't
afford their ivory backscratchers anymore. Madonna is joining
the fight, God knows why, and instead of her latest song being
leaked to the net ahead of time, what the avid fans actually
got was five minutes of Madonna swearing and abusing song file
traders. In retort, hackers defaced her websites, giving links
to the REAL song. Nice try, but it's never a wise idea to piss
off computer nerds. Especially computer nerds who are fans of
Madonna, as they obviously have no taste to save themselves.
Who knows what they are capible of. Regardless and not dishearted,
Apple have come to save the day, by introducing a PTP system
which is not free, but very cheap. Well. Do I download this new
song for free, or do i pay for it? I can see how this is going
to 'curb' music 'theft' online. Actually I can't, that was my
pitiful attempt at sarcasm, ladies and gentlemen. Hurrah to Apple,
Hurrah to Madonna (for having a sense of humour, twisted though
it may be), a big fat "BOO" to those in the recording
indistry. I can see you staring at me from the 100th floor, laughing
at all the commoners with no money. Just so you know, smoking
tobacco rolled in hundred dollar bills doesn't make you cool.
So fuck off and let the artists play their songs. You can have
your ivory backscratchers next year, if you save up, like the
rest of us.
